Project Description

Lairg II Wind Farm is a 10 turbine scheme (7x turbines up to 180m tip height and 3x turbines up to 150m tip height), approximately 800m south of the existing 3 turbine (100m tip height) Lairg Wind Farm on land at Leathad Creagach and Ruigh na Cup, approximately 4km southeast of Lairg, Sutherland.

Current Status

A planning application was submitted to The Highland Council in March 2019, (Highland Council Planning Reference; 19/01096/FUL) for the erection of fourteen wind turbines and through process of submission Of Further Environmental Information the wind farm layout was reduced to 10 turbines and planning consent was gained in June 2020. 

Public Engagement

Public exhibitions were held in Lairg and Rogart on 19th and 20th of September 2018 respectively and then in February 2019 at the same locations.

An online public exhibition in relation to the forthcoming proposed tip height application increase ran from Friday 28th August to Friday 11th September.
